The “Fly Camp for Teens” is intended to introduce high school age students to the fundamentals of flight. It will provide up to eight hours of flight experience for each student including up to three hours at the controls of a General Aviation aircraft and give each student a comprehensive overview of career opportunities in the field of aviation.

The maximum group size is 12 students per camp. These 12 students will be split into two groups (called Group A & B) for flight planning purposes. The students will fly in Cessna 172 four place airplanes. Each airplane can hold 3 students and an instructor. One student will have an opportunity to assist* with flying the airplane while two other students will observe from the back seat. The rear seat students will have head sets and be able to monitor air traffic control, listen to all conversations and learn by watching. Each flight will last approximately 45 minutes after which the airplane will land and the students will rotate positions with another student getting “hands on” flying experience.

It is anticipated that each student will get approximately 3 total hours of “hands on” flight time, and an additional 5 hrs of flying and observing.

In addition, each student will be exposed to the basic elements of flight planning, navigation, aviation weather, and our national air traffic control system including radio communications and elements of international flight planning.

Other activities will include visits to local aerospace museums and talks by airline professionals (a United Airlines pilot, a flight attendant and a flight school owner/manager) about career opportunities in aviation.

Cessna AirplaneThe airplanes that will be used are Cessna 172 - 4 place airplanes with intercoms. These airplanes are meticulously maintained by the staff of California Flight Academy . The instructor pilots are high-time, seasoned veterans with a proven track record of exemplary instruction and safety.

All flight instruction will be conducted in a professional, safe manner and no student will be exposed to any undo safety hazard or risk. California Flight Academy has an exemplary safety record and has had no recorded accidents or incidents.

Sounds intriguing but I need more info: 619-448-2212
